My name is Nathaniel Capp and I am the new Volunteer Coordinator here at KBOO. I was a manager at the Hollywood Theatre for ten years overseeing volunteers, running nightly operations, and even programming the Family Pictures series. It was an amazing experience with a strong community of staff, volunteers, members, and customers and I’m very excited to transition to the similarly vibrant and formidable KBOO community.

Modern board games are my current obsession with Cosmic Encounter, Click Clack Lumberjack, and Hansa Teutonica among my favorites (even if I’ve never won a game of Hansa). While I have many interests, I fear this has become the one that defines me and will likely come up in casual conversation. I enjoy rock climbing, primarily bouldering, and have a passion for movies, especially horror and the works of Joe Dante. I make some darn fine chocolate chip cookies, too. The secret ingredient? Toasted sugar.

Baseball is the only sport I watch, though my relationship with it shifted after my formerly favorite team, the Red Sox, traded Mookie Betts to the Dodgers (and don’t get me started on the recent lockout). Instead of rooting for laundry, I root for the players and fun narratives. My life as a fan is far less stressful. The dislike of the Yankees is tattooed on my heart and can never be removed, though.

The staff and volunteers at KBOO have done amazing work over the past two years transitioning to new necessities of running a radio station during a pandemic. I feel a little like I entered a cheat code that let me skip the most challenging parts of the level. The hard work and dedication floors me and I can’t express my appreciation and admiration at their ability to adapt enough, though I will try.

Please contact me at volunteer@kboo.org if you have any questions, comments, concerns, or if you’d just like to talk. I’m still getting my sea legs in this new position and I’m certain I can learn a lot from you. Thank you for reading and I can't wait to meet and work with you all!
