The annual Festival of Cinema, Animation and Technology first landed at Portland's Oregon Museum of Science and Industry back in 2023, and has since become a hub for artists, directors, and audiences. Marisa Cohen and Peter Alexander are the co-directors of the festival, and Peter joins S.W. Conser to preview highlights of the five-day event which takes place this year from August 6th through the 10th.
We’re also joined by two animation directors who’ll be appearing at the festival, both of whom work in traditional animation fields. Jess McKay is a puppet artist, musician, filmmaker and activist based in L.A. His puppet work includes projects with Disney, The Jim Henson Company, and Sesame Studios. And R.J. Sullivan is an award-winning animation filmmaker, composer, and screenwriter, whose Portland studio Catch and Hatch produces hand drawn 2-D animated films for both adults and children.
