Joseph Gallivan interviews collage artists Kirk Read and Angela Morrow about the show “Now What Remains: A Portland Collage Exhibition,”

On  Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 11:30am, Joseph Gallivan interviews collage artists Kirk Read and Angela Morrow about the show “Now What Remains: A Portland Collage Exhibition,” which was on at the Alberta Street Gallery through Feb 23.

Read and Morrow talk about why collage is having a moment, rippers, blade and scissor people, and how the PNW has a thriving collage scene where artists collage together socially and in a supportive, non-competitive manner.

From the press release:

Now What Remains

Curated by Kellette Elliott and Kirk Read

Alberta Street Gallery, January 29 — February 23, 2026

Opening Thursday January 29, 2026, 6-9pm

Presented by Angela Morrow and Alberta Street Gallery

1829 NE Alberta St., Portland, OR,  @albertastreetgallery

Fifteen Portland collage artists bear witness to cultural upheaval, dreaming into reassembly. These analog paper artists take what remains and imagine what's next.

Paper collage has a long history of being an accessible tool of agitprop, observation and self-soothing. The form is enjoying a worldwide renaissance thanks to a hunger for expression rooted in physical materials and face to face interactions. These Portland artists push the boundaries of the form as they address the chaos of the moment in a variety of ways.

Artists: Kyle Anderson, Cathy Aster, Kellette Elliott, Templeton Elliott, Torea Frey, MJ Connors Davison, Pamela Kieffer, Clive Knights, Angela Morrow, Jane Pellicciotto, Katie Price, Kirk Read, Kevin Sampsell, Cherie Savoie Tintary, Justin Tuttle

The Pacific Northwest Collage Collective was started in 2021 as a way

to bring collage artists of all ages and all abilities together in the

Northwest. In the past 5 years, we have hosted local and international

open calls, raised money for local charities, put on numerous art

shows, and have grown every year. Joining is free. We just want

anyone with an interest in collage and community to join us!

We host collage meet-ups every month in the Portland metro area.
