Band Bio:
The conceptual idea of The Shrike began to form in the fall of 2012, as the founding members planned a musical assault on Black Rock City at Burning Man 2013. As the idea took hold, the various members began to write, record and rehearse, and quickly found the band's "voice," centered on the hard-driving sound of 70s rock, infused with modern touches.

Jamie Lynn's electric violin adds a unique flavor to the riff-based guitar work of The Craw, all layered over the rich and dynamic rhythm section of Darren Linder's drum work and Matt Sipes' driving bass lines.

The Shrike's musical heritage is derived from such bands as Led Zeppelin, Pat Benatar, Alice in Chains, Heart, and Aerosmith, but the band does not limit itself to one classic sound. Modern flourishes and eclectic arrangements give this band a dynamic hard-rocking sound infused with passages of light and darkness.

The Shrike is named after the iconic character in Dan Simmons' classic Hyperion Cantos. Some of their songs are about characters from the book series.

The Shrike has performed in Portland at Tiger Bar, Watershed PDX, Hawthorne Theater Lounge, Ash Street, Dante's, The Tonic Lounge, and Portland Pride Festival.

The Shrike has opened for international acts including The Slants, Jennifer Batten, and Zepparella.

In April 2015, The Shrike released their full-length debut album.
