Moe Bowstern contributes to underground literary cultural traditions as a reader, writer, and editor, best known for the commercial fishing zine Xtra Tuf, which shares her life in the Alaska salmon, halibut, herring, cod, and crab fisheries. After moving to Portland, from 1997 to 2007 Moe gave her time to DIY social practice projects, co-creating space for citizens to protest within the queer, fun-centered, anarchist Amalgamated Everlasting Union Chorus, and making ceremony outside of mainstream capitalism with an annual mega-collaboration, the Winter Solstice Puppet Show, among other projects. Mic Crenshaw is an independent Hip Hop artist, respected emcee, poet, educator and activist. Crenshaw is the Lead U.S. Organizer for the African HipHop Caravan and uses Cultural Activism as a means to develop international solidarity related to Human Rights and Justice through Hip Hop and Popular Education. in his teenage years, Crenshaw actively confronted white supremacist gangs that were a growing part of the hard-core music scene. Mic eventually moved to Portland, where he quickly became one of the most respected artists in the Northwest, and his community efforts have had both local and international impact.Crenshaw is a co producer of the It Did Happen Here Podcast.
Celina Flores is a media maker specializing in photography and video editing. She’s trained in equity-informed mediation and values clear and concise communication in all forms. One of the co-hosts of the It Did Happen Here podcast, Celina also conducted
research and interviews for the project. In her downtime, you can find Celina petting her kitties, baking, or playing drums in the band Viral Load.
A founding member of the Portland-based Coalition for Human Dignity, Mozzochi spent much of the 1980s-1990s specializing in research and intelligence that targeted the far-right. He currently blogs at ghostsofantifascismpast.org
Moe Bowstern, Mic Crenshaw, Alec Dunn, Celina Flores, Julie Perini and Erin Yanke are artists and activists in Portland, working independently and collaboratively across media, including music, audio, writing, filmmaking, photography, visual art and design. Since 2019, the group has been working together to produce the podcast, It Did Happen Here, create outreach events around the podcast, and turn the interviews and research into a book, It Did Happen Here: An Antifascist People’s History, published by PM Press, March 2023.
