January 29th marked the one-year anniversary of the shooting death of Aaron Marcel Campbell.

Campbell, who was described as mentally unstable, was a first victim in a year that saw six officer involved shootings.

It was also a year that brought attention to how police officers are interacting with with citizens who deal with mental illness.

KBOO's Chris Andre recently spoke with Jason Linaro from the Mental Health Association of Portland about how to curb this trend.
