In a growing number of communities across the United States, gas utilities, supported by state legislatures, labor unions, environmental groups and other stakeholders, are exploring Thermal Energy Networks (TENs) to decarbonize buildings and create clean energy jobs. TENs use a shared network of underground water pipes to efficiently transfer heat in and out of buildings and provide year-round heating and cooling through a neighborhood-scale network of groundsource heat pumps.
On this episode of Locus Focus, we talk with Melanie Plaut, with Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility, about an effort to bring Thermal Energy Networks to Oregon.
