Two stories tonight. First up, Katherine Dunn reads a suspence story set in the New York subways by Cornell Woolrich, Originally published in a 1936 issue of Argosy Magazine under the title"You Pays Your Nickel".Later reprinted by Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine as "The Phantom Of the Subway" in 1983. A New York Subway guard becomes interested in the newspaper coverage of an ongoing police search for a muderous burglar who ha been on the run since the erly hours of the morning. As his day gos on nd he follows the ltest nws releses h begins to realize that he may be on a collesion course with this phantom who has proven redy to kill i cornered.
Also, Orson Welles as Harry Lime in Man Of Mystery. Harry is hired by a myterious business man, who in order to get a construction conract to build a base for the US Millitary, must go through a security check. He confesses that he has no memory of his life before 1927 when he found himself in Zurich with no memory of where he came from. In th following years he became a very sucesful business man. He wants Harry, and his knowlege of the European Underworld, to find out if there is anything untoward lurkng in his forgotten past that would prevent him from getting this contract. Or so he says.
